Kathy Boylan's Prayers of the FaithfulReaders of this website, and people who know Kathy Boylan, of the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker in Washington, D.C. are familiar with the ongoing saga of Kathy's prayers for peace: that soldiers put down their weapons and that we stop paying for war. At one point, It seemed that she was going to be barred from attending the services. Imagine Kathy's surprise when she read a reflection Prayer of the Faithful: Part Two by Fr. J-Glenn Murray, S.J., in St. Aloysius Church Sunday bulletin, April 27, 2008. "..When praying for the living and their circumstances, we first speak aloud and at once the names of those for whom we pray. Then, if there is some special circumstance and person(s) for whom we wish to pray, we do so one at a time. For example, we might pray: That all soldiers lay down their weapons and war and seek peace" or "For Lillan and all others who suffer with dementia and those who care for them." |
